President's Message
The International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) promotes the highest standard of care in the practice of spinal cord
injury for men, women, and children throughout the world. Through its medical and multidisciplinary team of
professionals, ISCoS endeavors to foster education, research, and clinical excellence. With its large membership of
clinicians and scientists from all around the world it plays an important role. From the past 54 years members have
been continuously updating their knowledge at the Annual Scientific Meeting held in a different country each year.
ISCoS is continuously expanding both in membership and in new horizons.
The ISCoS Textbook on Comprehensive Management of Spinal Cord Injuries is the latest major achievement of
the society. It contains information on all aspects of management of SCI.
The fact that experts from around the world have worked so closely together in writing different chapters under
the guidance of Dr Chhabra and the editorial board has led to the creation of this outstanding work.
After other ISCoS’ initiatives of recent years, such as e-Learning and updating of Spinal Cord journal, this textbook
takes all those involved further on the road to a worldwide proper approach and provides efficient help for individuals
who suffer from SCI. By disseminating knowledge, permitting easy access to all specific data, and offering responses
to the main questions in the field, it will, without doubt, be an important, indispensable asset in the libraries of
individuals and institutions dedicated to this care.
We are convinced that it will play a major role in all future SCI management.
